Розповіді на англійській мові (5 клас)
About Myself

I’m 11 now and I’m an owl. I think so because school starts at 9.00 am and I get up at 7.00 am. I don’t find it easy! I have a big alarm clock but my mother usually has to come into my room and wake me. I think that I am not a lark because I can’t get up at 6.00 am and do a lot of things. Often I’m half-asleep during the first lesson – I can’t help it!

In the evening I’m not very tired and can do some important things. If I want to watch film late at night it is not so very difficult for me.

Most of my friends are in bed by 10.30 pm but, I really don’t like going to bed early. So after I have finished my homework, I usually watch TV or read in my own room until about 11.30 pm. It is easier for me to learn the poems or to revise the rules in the evening.

My Friend

I have a friend. We have known each other since early childhood. We went to the same kindergarten and sit at the same desk at school. When one of us gets into trouble, the other helps.

Oksana, this is her name, she is a pretty-looking girl with fair hair, big blue eyes, and a charming smile. She has a bright and happy nature. She isn’t very tall.

At school Oksana is good at English. For me this subject is very difficult. My friend helps me a lot. We do homework together. She brings many cassettes with stories in English, videos, films and books. By the way, Oksana collects many films in English. She has nearly 40 films in her collection. Her help makes schooling much easier and more pleasant for me.

My hobby is sewing. I sew clothes not only for myself but for Oksana too. That’s why we always look great.

Of course, I don’t mean to say that she is an ideal person. Like anyone else she has some drawbacks but, she is a wonderful friend and we get on pretty well.

My Family

We are a family of four; my mother, my father, my younger brother and I.

My father’s name is Victor. He is 34. My father is a businessman. My Mother’s a teacher. She teaches English at school. My brother goes to kindergarten. We usually get together only at weekends. We go to the park or drive to the nearest lake to have a picnic. Also we go shopping together, especially when we buy things for our home. In the evenings we like to watch TV in the living-room and discuss what we have seen.

Like many other Ukrainian families we have breakfast every morning and help each other to serve it. Besides, we always try to have supper together too but, it is not easy because everyone comes home at different times.

Clothes

I always wear jeans and T-shirt or a shirt. I think it is comfortable because I go to judo and need to change clothes very quickly.

Besides, jeans are suitable when I use a big bike or going for a walk. I wear trainers on my feet. I can run and jump in them.

On my head there is a cap. It has the colors of my favorite football team. I hate bracelets, skirts, dresses and necklaces. My girl-friends always tell me that I am not a real girl and that I’m a tom boy.

In winter I wear warm woolen gloves in the street . In summer I prefer cotton trousers or shorts. I have a thin silk blouse. My thin silk scarf is very nice. In autumn I go to school in a thick cotton jackets.

What Schoolchildren Wear in Britain

In many schools in Britain pupils must wear uniforms. Schoolboys wear white shirts and ties with the colors of their schools. Over their shirts they wear school jackets; their school jackets are called blazers. The schoolboys have the school badges on the pockets of their blazers, they have the school badges on their caps too. English school girls wear blouses or shirts and skirts. In some schools the schoolgirls wear dresses and hats with coloured ribbons and badges. Girls usually wear black stockings or tights and shoes. At the PE lessons boys and girls wear T-shirts, shorts and trainers.

Food and Drinks

We all prefer home-made food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So we like to have our meals at home. But when we are at school, we usually go to the school canteen to have our lunch or dinner there. If we are very busy we have a quick sandwich with coke, tea or coffee. We may have soup or borsch, meat with potatoes and different vegetables. You can eat fried potatoes, fish, salads of tomatoes, cucumbers and cabbage. For dessert we can have ice cream with fruits, like bananas or oranges.

We use spoons and forks at home, but very rarely use knives. At restaurants we must remember about our table manners, use knives and napkins, keep our elbows off the table.

Kharkiv

Kharkiv is the second largest city in Ukraine and the capital of the Kharkiv region. The generally accepted date of Kharkiv's founding is 1654/5 when Ukrainian Cossacks led by Ivan Karkach built a fortified settlement.

From 1920 to 1934 it was the capital of Soviet Ukraine. The city is over 300 sq km in area and is divided into nine districts.

Today there are over 2500 streets and 26 squares in the city. There are 110 parks, the largest being Gorky Park, Shevchenko Garden with a zoo, Artem Park, the Forest Park, and some others.

The population of the city is about 1.600.000 people.

Kharkiv is one of the largest industrial cities in Ukraine with over 250 enterprises. Kharkiv is a major cultural and scientific centre of Ukraine, second only to Kiev. There are about 200 secondary schools and 40 post-secondary institutions, about 150 research and planning institutes. The city has a circus and six professional theatres.

The public enjoys the use of 23 cinemas, 250 libraries, a sports center, water sports center and some parks of culture and recreation.

My Hobby

Hobby is a person’s favourite past time. People usually choose hobbies according to their interests. They collect stamps, toys, coins, cars or books.

When I was a child of ten I collected dresses for my Barby. It was so interesting to draw them. My Mother helped me to sew them at first. Then I started to make them myself. At school I had a lot of girl-friends who admired my collection. Some of them liked my ideas and soon we decided to organize a club of new fashion for Barbies.

My hobby was both interesting and useful. I asked my parents to take me to a course of sewing. There I was taught how to cut out a pattern and how to join details. At first it was difficult but I did my best. My doll then had original and nice dresses. Now all Barby’s clothes are in the box waiting for other children.

Our School Subjects

We study many subjects at school; Maths, History, Geography and a lot of others, which senior pupils usually do at school. Let me tell you about some of them.

At our Maths classes we learn many interesting things: square roots, arithmetical progression. After we do revision, our teacher explains a new topic, then we begin practical training of the new material; we do sums, simple equations and make drafts. If there is a little time till the end of the lesson left, we solve interesting mathematical tasks.

In history lessons we learn about important events of the past. To remember them better we make tables and write articles for the newspapers of the past.

In Russian and Ukrainian language lessons we learn parts of speech and rules of spelling, write dictations, paraphrases and essays.

My English Language Lesson

English Class is my favourite. Although sometimes we have to do such difficult things like doing grammar exercises, learning large texts and dialogues by heart, but most of the activities are quite interesting. We write compositions, learn rhymes and proverbs and even play games!

Our teacher of English often gives us topics for discussion — a kind of a «hot potato». We think about them at home and then in class we express our ideas on the spot. Actually I like texts for listening most: they are often funny, with an interesting plot and unpredictable ending.

I think that the knowledge I'm getting now is very important for my future job, that's why I do my best to get a good education.

The Earth

Our planet is called the Earth. It moves around the Sun. It takes 365 days for our planet to go round the Sun. The Sun is a star. It gives us light and warmth. The sunshine passes through space and air and comes to our planet. Then one side of the Earth, which faces the Sun, has day. The other side has night.

Besides the Earth, there are 8 other big planets which move around the Sun, Their names are Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Mercury is the smallest planet and Jupiter is the biggest one. The Sun and all the planets make the Solar System.

Astronomers say, they have found a new planet in our Solar System. They call it Sedna, but some of them dispute if it's really a planet.

There are many other stars in space. But they are far away from our planet. You can see stars only at night when the sky is dark. Large groups of stars make galaxies. Our galaxy is called the Milky Way. Galaxies are all different in shape. The Milky Way Galaxy is a spiral. Some groups of stars have their own names, for example, the Great Bear, the Little Bear.

 My Working Day

At 7.30 the alarm-clock wakes me up and my working day begins. Actually I'm not fond of getting up early, but I'm already used to it. I make my bed and go to the bathroom, then I brush my teeth and if I'm not short of time I have a shower. At 8 o'clock I'm ready to have breakfast. I just have a cup of coffee and a couple of sandwiches.

I leave home at 8.15. My school is not far from my house and it usually takes me 10 minutes to get there. My classes begin at 8.30 a.m. and finish at 2.30 p.m. At 12 o'clock I usually have lunch in our school canteen.

I'm back home at 3 or 4 o’clock. After hard work at school and a hearty dinner I feel like having a rest. So, after dinner I never do any serious work, I take a nap or read a book or listen to the music or watch TV.

Then it's time for me to do my homework. It takes me about 3 or 4 hours to do my homework properly.

Besides I have additional private lessons in English and Ukrainian.

Twice a week I go to the swimming pool. It helps me to keep myself fit and feel cheerful and active. І tidy up my room, or help Mummy to cook supper.

When the supper is ready, we gather in the dining-room and while having a meal we share the day’s news and plan our next day.

After supper I help Mummy to clear the table and to do the washing up. Then we watch TV till 10 o'clock.

Then I have a bath and go to bed to get up early next morning.
